Sodium Lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, produced through the fermentation of natural sugars. Supplied as a 60% aqueous solution, it is a versatile ingredient widely used in both cold process soap making and cosmetic formulations.

In cold process soap, Sodium Lactate acts as a natural additive that helps harden the soap more quickly, facilitates unmolding, and improves the overall texture and durability of the finished bars.

It is also an excellent humectant, helping the skin retain moisture, making it a valuable ingredient in facial creams, body lotions, moisturizers, and other personal care products.

Recommended usage:

Cold process soap: 1% of the total recipe weight. Add to the lye solution once it has cooled to approximately 35°C.

Cosmetics: 0.5–1% in the water phase of the formulation.
